PE

What is our aim?

At Tiger Primary School, we are committed to developing life-long knowledge, skills and understanding, so that our children can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, swimming and water safety, athletics and outdoor adventure activities.

Physical education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills and promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. We intend to provide our children appropriate choices about physical activity throughout their lives.

National Fitness Day 2021-22

On Wednesday 22nd September, Tiger Primary celebrated National Fitness day. To start, we did the 10mins@10am National Fitness Initiative. The whole school joined in with 10 minutes of Marathon Kids.

During Mindfulness, we completed a couple of short, fitness-based activities. For PE, Tiger Moth class had a basketball lesson whilst other classes found ways to incorporate being active within their normal lessons - such as Year 2, who undertook a fitness experiment during Science.

We think National Fitness day is important because it helps us to keep happy and healthy, and it helps with our mental health and stamina. It also helps us to keep doing activities we enjoy instead of being unhealthy and in pain because we don’t get enough exercise.

Sports Week 2021

During the week of the 5th to 9th July, we had Tiger’s Sports Week.
To start with, Year 1 to 6 had individual class sessions with a tennis company who taught everyone key tennis-based skills.
On Wednesday, our formal sports days began. Each had a variety of different activities for us to compete in including; javelin, relays and the classic egg and spoon race!
It began with KS1, who completed their activities first.
With the support of their house captains and a few other trusted Year 6s, Year 3 and 4 completed their carousel of activities on Thursday.
Finally, Year 5 and 6 did their sports day on Friday, this finished off an incredibly successful sports week at Tiger.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff members, (especially Mr Ashwell and Mr Budd), who put a lot of time into making sports week happen, to the House Captains and other Year 6s for their help scoring and to the Year 3 children who also helped out throughout the week.
We all agree that sports week was a great success! Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves, and it was lovely to see such great sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the week.
